Abstract:
The overall purpose of the Pittsburgh Cardiovascular Health Study (CHS) is to determine risk of dementia among cognitively normal participants and individuals with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) using measures of brain structural integrity, cognitive function, cardiovascular health, genetic characteristics and other risk factors. This study will complete a follow-up of 924 participants in the CHS-Cognition Study (CHS-CS) who had an MRI of the brain in 1992-94. The current study focuses on the 532 participants who were re-evaluated in 1998-99 (including repeat MRI of the brain), and were classified as normal or MCI.
