Abstract:

The overall goal of this DBP is to investigate how brain connection develops during embryonic and neonatal periods using a mouse brain model, diffusion tensor imaging (DTI), and DiI (1,1-dilinoleyl-3,3,3′,3′-tetramethylindocarbocyanine, perchlorate) tract tracing. Dr. Mori’s lab has been developing technologies for high-resolution DTI and MRI/DTI database of developing C57BL mouse brains, while Dr. Dong is a world class expert of neural tract tracing and neuroanatomy. The technologies proposed in the Projects 3 will provide a unique opportunity to quantitatively characterize the axonal development and perform validation studies.
